Graham started his flying career at Ballarat Aero Club in 1958, then a division of the Royal Victorian Aero Club. He was taught to fly by Ray Bennett, a World War II pilot.

He then joined the RVAC as an instructor in 1960 and was then employed by Ansett ANA in 1961. He had 40 years experience with Ansett where he flew 17000 hours on DC3, DC4, Carvair, L188 Electra, Viscount 700/800 Series, DC9, Boeing 737 (200) and Boeing 767.

He retired as B767 Training Manager when Ansett ceased business in 2001.
