Darcy O'Connor

In 1970 Darcy joined the RAAF as an engine fitter and was subsequently selected for pilot training in 1975. He flew Dakota C47B in South East Asia, theIroquois Helicopters with 9 Squadron including a tour of peacekeeping duties in the Sinai. After a short time desk bound he completed a Flying Instructors course and went to Pt. Cook. He was selected for Central Flying School staff and then retired from the RAAF in 1990.

Darcy joined Ansett and assisted with the introduction of CRJ aircraft into Kendell Airlines, followed by instructing at Singapore Airlines Flying College on Learjet 45 aircraft. He also flew with Eva Airways in Taipei, operating B747-400 aircraft.

Darcy is currently a Captain with Jet Star, operating Airbus A320 aircraft.

He is still active on RAAF Reserve for the RAAF Museum at Pt Cook.

During his ‘spare time’ in Australia Darcy flies our Mustang and operates his own Chipmunk.
